In the wake of Texas GOBP Congressman Joe Barton's shameless suck-up to BP -- which was in fact symptomatic and emblematic of the entire Republican Party's suck-up to Big Oil -- and then, 6 hours later, Barton's non-apology apology for same, we have the DNC making an "Ad" about this:
.
Weak tea, DNC. Weak tea.
.
I agree with Daily Kos commentarians like ban48 who write:
That video was the best the DNC could do?
No images of oil-drench pelicans, suffocating turtles, or toxic dump beaches? Wow, fire your add agency!
and Bob Johnson:
DNC missed the mark... Again.
Good lord, they should be showing Barton's apology and Barbour's idiotic rambling over scenes of destruction, from the explosion on the rig that killed 11 people to the oil-soaked water fowl, dying dolphins and ruined beaches.
WTF...
Can't these inside-the-Beltway jackasses get a clue that the rest of us out here in the real world care much less about what TV talking heads have to say and more about the real world implications of this disaster. . .
I'm sure that there are legions of out-of-work or underemployed videographers and directors and digitheads and YouTube mavens who'd LOVE to produce an ad that juxtaposes Barton's sickening, utterly sicking, apology to BP with images such as those described by ban48 and Bob.
Oh, I'm sure such good and effective vids/ads will be produced, just not by the Brain Trust at the DNC. More's the shame, seems. Daily Kos should do a contest, in fact.
.
UPDATE: In the comments below Dartagnan calls it "a reflexive timidity." Bingo.
