For the past two months, oil has been gushing into the Gulf of Mexico thousands of barrels at a time.  as Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee, Representative Hastings had the power to prevent this.  Instead, in this election alone, Rep. Hastings has taken $26,272 from the oil industry, and you can be sure that this next report will show an even higher number.  Let’s show Hastings that he doesn’t get to be in the pocket of Big Oil and still claim to represent the interests of hardworking, middle-class families in this district.

Middle-class families in this district and across the country care about coming home safe after a hard day's work.  They care about working hard for companies that work hard to keep them safe.  They care about keeping local economies and jobs safe from the devastation caused by irresponsible corporations cutting corners.

There are only 6 days left until the end of the next FEC reporting period.  Help us raise $26,000 before the end of this period!  This money will not only go towards more yard signs, television and radio advertisements, and campaign literature.  It will also show Rep. Hastings that he can have the corporations, we don’t want them.  I’ve been endorsed by the Washington State Labor Council AFL-CIO, the Teamsters, the Machinists' Union and the Hanford Atomic Metals Trade Council.  The corporations trust Hastings, but those fighting for hardworking people trust me.

2010 is poised to be Richard Hastings’ last year in office, and you can help me make that happen.  The people of Central Washington are ready for leadership and real representation in DC, and we have the chance to give it to them.

There are FOUR challengers to Representative Hastings running from the right:  Mary Ruth Edwards, the Constitution Party candidate; Rex Brocki, the Tea Party candidate; Leland Yialelis, running as an independent; and Shane Fast, running as a Republican.  It’s clear that more people than ever from across the political spectrum before believe Hastings needs to go, and I need your help to make sure we get my message out to as many people as possible.

Again, we have a chance this year like we haven’t seen in a decade.  It’s going to take a lot of hard work, and any support you can give will put us one step closer to retiring Rep. Hastings.  Your donation of $100, $250, or even $500 will help us spread the word that Doc is part of the problem, and it’s time for him to go.

Thank you so much for your support!  I'll be around in the comments section to answer any questions you may have.

In solidarity,

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
