These past two years have seen the country engaged in great substantive debates, they've also seen the rights mastery of cheap publicity stunts. Among these the billionaire backed, never quite really there, astroturf TEA Party. When it comes to cheap publicity gimicks why should conservatives have all the fun? Where is the American Bread Party?
On the surface calling your group the TEA party leaves something to be desired. If the Democratic party were a bit more awake on the public relations side we could have "tea sipping conservatives" opposed by "meat & potatoes Democracts." Last time I looked meat & potatoes played better in middle America than references to the revolutions favorite cafinated beverage.
And then their are the more serious differences. Now I could be wrong on my conervative dogma here but it seems that the Tea Party wants to cut taxes by eliminating most social programs. In a time of record unemployment where are the leaders willing to stand up and say "the most important objective of government is to make sure you have a job so that you can feed your family." Much as I hate to admit it, for vast swaths of America well reasened arguments don't go very far. For many the best argument is a slogan. Conservatives have their Tea Party, where is the liberal Bread Party?
