Although allegiances have shifted recently from Republican to Independent, the U.S. military remains staunchly pro-Republican - especially in the old-line higher-ups. And you can bet that when the military says it’s leaning more "independent," it sure as hell isn’t toward the Green Party. It’s more like towards the Tea Party.
That’s why it’s not that big a surprise to find out what Stanley McChrystal, appointed by Barack Obama to lead the Afghanistan war effort, thought of Democrats and the White House.
In a former job, I had to sell into the military market, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that these people were the biggest bunch of pro-Republican boosters I ever saw. Sure, there was an outlying Dem here and there, but that’s only what they were – way outlying.
As long as we have a military sucking off the Republican party and dismissing Democrats like McChrystal did, we’re not going to see any traction of Obama’s directives in this group of Republican-lovers.
