In light of the current course of disaster events worldwide, and the comparison by many Christian fundamentalists to Barack Obama as the Anti-Christ, it concerns me that the "Rapture" is something desirous to certain groups.
Armageddon as described
http://www.bibletruths.net/...
in this one of many texts is a true belief by some growing groups of people that welcome it. Some of them are waiting patiently for their rewards as being "Righteous Christians" and following the laws of God as they see fit, while others are more than ready to promote it and given enough power, would " bring it on."
Many of these people are looking forward to November elections which will enable them to vote in specific candidates that may believe that the end of the world is truly close. Some of the candidates are pandering for this specific block of voters and basically are self serving, as most of our representatives are and will say or do anything it takes to get that vote.
Let's say that some of the far right that insight hatred for the current government are in the Tea Bag movement and wish to use it for their own gains, the majority of the mob are God fearing religious fanatics that would love to see the end of the world and believe that God is coming for them to take their hand and bring them directly to heaven for following the word of Jesus.
It worries me, and has for a while when the Palins and her ilk have the following that they do and the popularity of the masses, and that their God has chosen them to clarify and promote their policies that leave no room for people who like to think.
It also enrages me that such a group of self-righteous individuals believe it is their right to predict the outcome of the human race, sell it to the ignorant and point at the non believers that will be ravaged by the second coming.
I personally don't have a great love for the human race as it stands now and see that the past has not been very different behaviorally for us. We are a sad species and no one really knows what will become of us.
I do know that relatively sane religious Christians that I know, that otherwise think rationally, believe that this will truly occur, very soon now, much sooner that we think and are looking forward to it.
Scary.
