From Huffington:
Ensuring there's enough money to pay for the war will require reforming the country's entitlement system, Boehner said. He said he'd favor increasing the Social Security retirement age to 70 for people who have at least 20 years until retirement, tying cost-of-living increases to the consumer price index rather than wage inflation and limiting payments to those who need them.
"We need to look at the American people and explain to them that we're broke," Boehner said. "If you have substantial non-Social Security income while you're retired, why are we paying you at a time when we're broke? We just need to be honest with people.
There's only one way that the American people are going to wind down their insane, excessive militarism, and that's when everybody starts suffering, everybody starts sacrificing, everybody feels the pain.
Well, here it is; the war tax I have been talking about. It's almost as good as the draft to get the base fired up. Except that instead of calling it a war tax, which would be unpopular with the proles, we are just going to make everybody work until they're 70 years old.
Enjoy! I'd write a longer diary, but Boehner said it all.
UPDATE: I have to say I'm amused. I write coherent, inspired, substantive diaries that are deeply researched and beautifully written and I get six comments.
And then I put "Huge" and "Boehner" in the same title and people pile on.
Heh.
