I think it's telling that on Sen. Nelson's contact form, in the dropdown box for "topic", there is NO choice for "economy", for "employment", or for "unemployment". ("Budget" and "abortion" make it in there, of course.)
So in my attempt (likely futile as I am not a Nebraska voter) to give Sen. Nelson a piece of my mind on his latest stunt that blocked unemployment relief for millions of Americans, I had no choice but "Thank you."
Here is what I wrote to Sen. Nelson:
Senator Nelson,
Thank you for blocking the latest effort in the Senate to provide some small measure of relief to millions of unemployed Americans. Your newfound concern for our deficit situation is touching. I only wish you had considered that before voting in favor of President Bush's massive tax cuts for the wealthy, which have beggared the government to the tune of over two trillion dollars. Apparently indebting our grandchildren for the benefit of the wealthy and powerful is ok with you; but then again, you are wealthy, thanks in no small part to the American taxpayer, so I suppose it makes sense that you would want to relieve your own tax burden. The only thing that doesn't make sense is that you apparently do not feel a bit of shame about it.
I'm sure it feels great to know, while you deposit your $10,000+ paycheck (that we taxpayers have paid), that unemployed Americans all over the country are losing the small weekly relief payment that they relied on to keep a roof over their heads and feed their families.
You, sir, are a disgrace to the Democratic party, to the Senate, and to America.
Sincerely yours,

UPDATE: Per mjd in florida's suggestion, updated the headline to make it clear which Sen. Nelson I am thanking.
