My job's taken me away from writing on the internet much of the past year, but I drop in with online news. Much of my past year has been spent developing an new undergraduate degree program. It is now up and running, and (as of early June) Roosevelt University's Sustainability Studies program has a new Sustainability blog with regular updates about food, energy, water, waste, biodiversity, policy, and courses.
Some sample topics below the fold.
A few recent posts give you an idea of what the blog is about:
Nation’s Largest Urban Solar Power Plant Now in Chicago
News: FDA Urges Fewer Antibiotics in Meat
Metropolitan Planning Council Unveils Goals for the Chicago River
News: Illegal Asbestos Dumping in Kankakee County
Field trip to the Chicago Center for Green Technology
As these headlines imply, we focus on Chicago and Illinois, though some topics take on a national or global dimension as they relate to our courses. Over time, we'll share more about our courses and outreach (for example, our Food course running this summer involves the Chicago Avenue Garden Project, and we'll share some photos and information about our activities there later this month).
We'll also offer more courses in the autumn, which we discuss in some detail on the blog. I'm happy to answer questions about the program or the blog, if you are curious to learn more.
