Whoa, dudes and dudettes.
Check out this most excellent interview with Bill Clinton, by Wolf Blitzer of CNN. (This link is only a small part of the whole interview, I'm still looking for links.)
I was just tending our Forth of July garden, when I caught part of this on the cable.
Let’s face it.
The man is brilliant!
"Bill" vividly and excellently articulates his comprehensive world-view, and vision of our nation’s future. He paints an integrated, big picture overview of our world's collective situation and what we can do about it, that is simultaneously plausible, encouraging, and terrifying.
For example, he suggests we make it clear that if our efforts to prevent Iran, and other nations, from gaining access to nuclear warheads, we should, at least, make clear that if they use them they will be 'toast.'
Also, Clinton think's Obama is getting a 'bum rap' on this empathy thing, and supports Obama, and his world-view in many helpful ways.
Humorously, noting, that one of his primary missions in recent years has been not to say anything that could get him into trouble. 'Which believe you me, it's something I get a lot of,' or something close to that in his own 'Irish-Scotch redneck' way, raising a laugh from the crowd.
Then, with boyish charm, and reckless abandon, he jumps right into the deepest shark filled waters around.
With an astonishing display of detailed knowledge of the whole complex system he goes on to reveal deep background on his views of how to solve the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the historic failure of Arafat to accept the deal he put forward. The greatest diplomatic blunder he's ever witnessed.
Then, "Bill" would the best way to lead ourselves and the world out of this current recession, would be a SBA Loan Guarentee program, which he thinks will tap into the $1.5 trillion of cash reserves private investors have horded away for fear of instability.
Many other most interesting nuggets which could play a helpful role in explaining and bolstering President Obama's longer-term strategies for moving us forward, but which he isn't getting sufficient credit for, as Bill notes. But also, which needs to be explained better.
Former President Bill Clinton catches Obama's back here in a unique way, only he can. (Did you get the part where he's not only "unique" but he's the only one who can do this. lol)
Well, please forgive this informal quickie, as I'm working on my garden, only wanted to share it with you while it was fresh. Feel free to use the comments in any way you think might be fun or helpful.
Good Day.
