RKBA is a DKos group of second amendment supporters who also have progressive and liberal values. We don't think that being a liberal means one has to be anti-gun. Some of us are extreme in our second amendment views (no licensing, no restrictions on small arms) and some of us are more moderate (licensing, restrictions on small arms.) Moderate or extreme, we hold one common belief: more gun control equals lost elections. We don't want a repeat of 1994. We are an inclusive group: if you see the Second Amendment as safeguarding our right to keep and bear arms individually, then come join us in our conversation. If you are against the right to keep and bear arms, come join our conversation. We look forward to seeing you, as long as you engage in a civil discussion. RKBA stands for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
KV has some interesting news from Michigan:
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
SEC. 1163. (1) NOT LATER THAN AUGUST 1, 2011, THE DEPARTMENT
SHALL DEVELOP OR ADOPT, AND SHALL MAKE AVAILABLE TO SCHOOLS, 1 OR
MORE MODEL PROGRAMS FOR GUN SAFETY INSTRUCTION FOR ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL PUPILS. THE MODEL PROGRAM SHALL ADOPT OR BE BASED ON THE
"EDDIE EAGLE" GUNSAFE ACCIDENT PREVENTION PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY THE
NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
(2) EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT AND PUBLIC SCHOOL ACADEMY IS
ENCOURAGED TO ADOPT AND IMPLEMENT THE MODEL GUN SAFETY INSTRUCTION
PROGRAM DEVELOPED UNDER SUBSECTION (1) IN AT LEAST GRADE 3
BEGINNING IN THE 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR.
While I'm not the biggest fan of the NRA (understatement), their Eddie Eagle program does not teach pro-gun thinking. It also doesn't even MENTION the NRA. This program teaches firearm safety.
Shadan7 found this tidbit:
Not to Worry, the TSA is on the job!
US airline 'loses Netanyahu bodyguard guns'
Not even officers from Israeli security service Shin Bet can escape the scourge of lost luggage it seems.
A bag belonging to agents travelling with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was mistakenly put on a flight from New York to Los Angeles, not to Washington.
Alarmingly the bag contained four 9mm Glock handguns, which are now missing.

And lastly, like always, TG leads us out with Food for Thought:
Some people say we don't need the Right to Keep and Bear Arms for self-defense, because we have the police to protect us. By that reasoning, we don't really need Freedom of Speech, either, since we elect people to speak for us.
I don't accept the former false reasoning any more than the latter.
