I'm an Obama apologist. Im just fucking with yall. But for all the people who feel this is the worst shape this country has ever been in. You fucking chicken littles need to get a fucking grip. The reason the great recession didn't produce such a social uproar this time around is because we now have a frayed and deeply inadequate social safety net and back then being unemployed meant eating out of a trash can. We have improved that part and every other part of our society since then. Now, I'm not the most educated person here by far. So I tend refrain from writing diaries because the chances I could say something stupid outweighs all the positives by a long shot.
But I felt compelled by the apathy that seems to be in abundance on the left. We constantly blame our elected leaders for all our problems. When they are just a reflection of us. If they failed you then you failed us. Cause we didn't produce a alternative vision during the election. Obama hasn't become something different, we have become less afraid of the GOP and more concerned with policy. This is a good thing. So, I understand the constant criticism but, criticism with out solutions leads to a apathetic population. Apathy is the friend of the status quo not of the progressive movement. We have to remain convinced that we can constantly move the ball forward. Because once we convince ourselves there is no hope for future. That's when we become truly fucked. I live in an environment where young black men and women my age don't think their is any hope for a future beyond basic survival and, I promise you its a sad sight to see up close. It's Easier to ask questions then it is to give answers. So for all the people who wish they never voted for this president. The question is how can we move the political elite the direction we want them to go? The tea baggers already know the answer. Primaries.
