Have a look at the Gallup Presidential approval tracking chart and you'll see that of all the presidents, Obama's numbers since innaguraton have most closley matched that of the right's most beloved star, Ronald Reagan. (only Obama's are a little bit better)
The Gallup interactive graph tool is fun to play with and can be found here.
Now I know that this forum, being a lefty sort of hang out, Reagan probably isn't the most popular fellow, but nationally (in the end) he was considered by most to be a very good President. In fact, the electoral college results of his second Presidential election were nothing short of a monstrous landslide and among the Republican faithful he is all but a diety.
The point being, he kicked ass in the election, is revered by the GOP, yet his approval numbers were a bit less than Obama's are now at the same time in his Presidency.
The moral of this story? Well, it could go in any number of directions I guess. I'll leave the moral up to you. I just thought it was an interesting tidbit given all the fever pitched banter about approval ratings these days.
Sleep well kossacks, it's all good.
