So apparently Tim Geithner is opposed to Elizabeth Warren's appointment to head the Consumer Protection...
Or maybe not...
Reminds me of one of my all-time favorite movies...
Jack Woltz: You don't understand. Johnny Fontane never gets that movie. That part is perfect for him. It'll make him a big star. And I'm gonna run him out of the business. And let me tell you why. Johnny Fontane ruined one of Woltz International's most valuable proteges. For three years we had her under contract, singing lessons, dancing lessons, acting lessons. I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars. I was gonna make her a big star. And let me be even more frank, just to show you that I'm not a hard hearted man, that it's not all dollars and cents. She was beautiful, she was innocent, she was the greatest piece of ass I've ever had, and I've had them all over the world! And then Johnny Fontane comes along with his olive oil voice and guinea charm and she runs off. She threw it all away just to make me look ridiculous. And a man in my position can't afford to be made to look ridiculous! Now you get the hell out of here. And you tell that gumba that if he wants to try any rough stuff that I ain't no band leader. Yeah, I heard that story.
Loved that scene, especially the reaction by Hagan. And when I read bobswern's and Forrest Brown's diaries, I thought of that scene.
Timothy Geithner: You don't understand. Elizabeth Warren never gets that appointment. That job is perfect for her. It'll make her a big star. And I'm gonna run her out of the Administration. And let me tell you why. Elizabeth Warren has criticized Wall Street's most valuable money making ponzi schemes. For three decades we developed complex financial instruments, CDOs, CDSs, millisecond trading software. Wall Street lobbying firms spent hundreds of millions of dollars gutting financial regulations. I was gonna make them Too Big To Fail. And let me be even more frank, just to show you that I'm not a hard hearted man, that it's not all dollars and cents. Edward M. Liddy was beautiful, He was innocent, He was the greatest piece of ass I've ever had, and I've had them all over the world! And then Elizabeth Warren comes along with her impressive intellect and home-spun charm and he resigns. She has been on the daily show many times to make me look ridiculous. And a man in my position can't afford to be made to look ridiculous!
Sorry, I couldn't resist :)
But, instead of putting a horses head in his bed, let's just sign this petition!
Now, seriously, here is what I think is important. As Kossack calchala diaried, there have been reports that some at Treasury are saying that "Timothy Geithner loves him some Liz Warren". I hope that is true, but I haven't seen an official position from Treasury yet, so I believe it is important to sign the petition so we don't have to cut off a horse's head so we can make sure that Treasury gets the message loud and clear.
