I got the idea for this from Avenue Q, a fantastic musical with 'full frontal puppet nudity' and I decided to opine further because of the crazy racist emails in Markos' front page post. See, I have a confession or two. I've stood silently while someone told a racist joke. I've stood silently when someone complained about affirmative action. I've stood silently, shuffling my feet, as someone told me that my boss only got his job because he was black.
The thing is... I think all groups of people have once done something like this. Of course not to the extreme of the aholes, but you get my point. We should no longer be silent when we hear things like this. We should chastise the ignorant clowns who say them, and encourage others to do the same.
This is not the time to stand idle. Barack Obama did not get elected because he was black. He is not the product of affirmative action, and to pretend, as those on the right do, that he is somehow lacking the mental faculties necessary to be president (unlike GWB of course) is laughable.
Tea Party candidates have gotten donations from Stormfront, yet the NAACP is racist for calling them out. Curious, isn't it.
Let's face the facts. Most of the animosity comes from the fact that a Democrat runs the country, and Democrats run the House and Senate. This in no way means that some people aren't just pissed off because the big cheese is a black man.
Anyway, fuck Glenn Beck.
Sorry for the profanity there, but it had to be said.
Edit to add this:
