Rick Sloan over at the Union of Unemployed got a request from a very big name news source that is looking for a specific sort of foreclosure/bankruptcy horror story - ones where people had to self represent.
I can't say which news outlet, but it's a name everyone knows ...
So Beth & I met Rick Sloan of the IAMAW in D.C. a few months back. He's responsible for the union's public service effort, the Union of Unemployed. We've talked back and forth on stuff, sharing links to stories, contacts, and such. This morning he forwarded me this one from a journalist at a major news outlet.
Thank you very much for the help. Alright now I am moving into my next story. You know any folks from either of your organizations who lost their job – through no fault of their own – then suddenly ended up in foreclosure and/or bankruptcy and because they had few or no assets they had to represent themselves at these proceedings?
So ... a little investigative journalism is afoot and we can help make sure the story gets told. If you or someone you know has a story that fits this mold I'm nrauhauser at gmail dot com - drop me a line, we'll talk a bit, and if your story fits I'll put you in touch with the right people.
