I never thought I'd see the day when a fellow Republican would say that my area's sad shell of a congressman called Pete Sessions was described as "not up" to a job.
"Taliban Pete," who I sad to say is my area's congressman, was called "not up" to his responsibilities as head of his party's congressional campaign committee.
I would like to take this Republican's thoughts a step further. Not only he is not up to his job as head of the National Republican Congressional Committee, he is also not up to represent my area.
And I'm so glad that his Democratic opponent, Grier Raggio, is taking the fight to Sessions on this and other issues.
More below.
Here's part of the report of the Republican stalwart's remarks as they appreared on Raggio's web site:
As leader of the National Republican Congressional Committee, Pete Sessions is tasked with candidate recruitment and fundraising toward the effort of taking back the House of Representatives this coming November. But according to the Chair of the Texas Workforce Commission, a Rick Perry appointee and Republican stalwart, Tom Pauken doesn't think Sessions is smart enough for the task:
"He's not up to the job," Pauken said, arguing that no matter how well the GOP does this fall, Sessions should be replaced by "a smart conservative who knows what needs to be done."
Sessions DEFINITELY demonstrated that he's not up to the NRCC position, and when it comes to fiscal responsibility, Sessions' rhetoric doesn't match his record.
Here's what Raggio said about that:
Yesterday Pete Sessions made an appearance on Meet the Press. Instead of offering real solutions for job growth, fiscal responsibility and the issues voters are concerned about, Sessions chose to promote his own deeply partisan personal agenda. His behavior was that of a typical DC insider. He played the Washington blame game, but failed to offer any true solutions of his own.
"Let's go right to it," Pete Sessions said when he was asked how he would balance the budget. He then refused to give anything but a "gauzy agenda", as host David Gregory described Sessions' reply. I wonder if Congressman Sessions read the bills when he voted for 8 years of budget deficits under George W. Bush, which took us from surpluses under President Clinton, to deficits that increased our national debt by 72%.
Sadly, when you have a national Rent-A-Congressman whose loyalty is to Washington lobbyists you come to expect such behavior. Sessions has become a puppet whose strings are pulled by the special interests, mega-corporations and Washington insiders.
I have one special interest group; the families of North Texas. Pete Sessions was right when he said voters back home will vote against incumbents who voted for more spending and more deficits, which describes Pete Sessions exactly. The people of Dallas are fed up with their pro-Washington Rent-A-Congressman and will hold him personally accountable for his actions on Election Day.
I'm glad Raggio is aggressively taking Sessions on, and I hope he wins in November.
