FOX News has been hyping the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) voter intimidation non-case. First, this is not the original Black Panthers from the 1960's. The NBPP is classified as a hate group and there is no connection between them, the original Black Panther Party, or President Obama except the color of their skin.
Secondly, the criminal charges were dropped under the Bush administration and not President Obama's administration. Furthermore, under the Obama administration, the civil charges were pursued and resulted in an injunction. Under the Bush administration, White men with guns were involved in voter intimidation but never charged. I mention that case just to point out that this is not the first voter intimidation case that resulted in less than criminal charges being filed. Also, [tongue in cheek] maybe the NBPP member should have carried a gun instead of a nightstick and he would not have been charged with anything.
Third, I have watched the video several times and there was not any evidence that he intimidated or prevented anyone from voting. Unless you are the type of person that is intimidated by a Black man carrying a nightstick. According to their press release, "The New Black Panther Party made it clear then and now we don't support voter intimidation...The actions of one individual cannot be attributed to an entire organization any more than every act of any member of the Catholic Church be charged to the Vatican." Just like the Tea Party should not be labeled a racist organization because of the acts of some of their members.
