Its funny how we have been turned upside down and inside out that we now have a party that demands our support because the other side is too horrible to contemplate.
This works if you are on the left or the right.
The memes.
Democrats:
Children of Satan, communist and fascist liberals the lot of them, look how they want to kill grandma!
Republicans:
Bible thumping bigots whose only reason for life is the 'end of times'.
Both parties play these roles pretty well, they motivate the base....no...scare the base silly more like.
Meanwhile the corporations have a free run of the real politic. Our political system is so dysfunctional it has become a joke, and the joke is on us. Divide to rule has worked so very well indeed. So what we have a series of election tools and policies designed to scare the base to vote and some carrots to flip the 'independent' voter.
Its funny how organizations that have been created by the grass roots and are designed to protect our rights have be so thoroughly demonized one way or another.
The threat of more than two parties sends the party faithful on both sides of the aisle into fits of rage.
But but you will let the other side win!
So fucking what, we already have a third party, now let me explain.
The whole system is designed to be confrontational and many will vote against their own best interests just to avoid the dire consequences of the other party getting in. Truth be told when you get to the nitty gritty in real world politics there is not much difference between them. The screaming and temper tantrums occur when they don't have power, its like taking a lollipop away from a two year old, you better buy ear defenders.
When you look at what really got done:
--The two parties by a huge majority in near total bipartisan co-operationapproved two Wars.
---The Patriot acts.
Homeland Security Acts
--FISA
--Military Commissions Act.
--The bipartisan forgetting of torture and the Bush doctrineof wars of aggression.
--The War on terror is blindly followed by both sides of the aisle even though senior members of the international intelligence community say its making a bad situation worse.
--The howling about the decision in SCOTUS Citizens United v Federal Election Commission have died down to a mere murmur.
--The war on drugs ensuring countries in our own hemisphere are destabilised yet its funny how the opium/heroin keeps flowing out of a country we occupy so completely. It resembles the Opium Wars of the British Empire.
--The ease with which every demand by the MIC is grantedwithout the military even breaking into a sweat. Yet passing anything that helps people in the street takes forever say HCR or unemployment extension.
---The bailing out of the banks and corporations is merely a dim memory and it is still basically business as usual. I'm just waiting to see who eventually runs the oversight brigade.
--A watered down HCR which after all was for us all, became HIR, oh yes we got a little of what we asked for Tom Brown.
--Campaign finance reform, now you see it, now you don't.
This is the reality; bipartisanship is alive and well in DC.
The vile adjectives and righteous howling are background noise to this ongoing symphony of privilege.
Wedge issues are thrown around like candy at Willy Wonka's factory, funny how its always the same ones that are recycled. Without them they might really have to show us what we are voting for, and heaven forbid actually keeping election promises.
They are trying to turn feminism inside outbleech
To the LGBT community its; yes, no, ha ha fooled you; wait until next time suckers.
The Texas Board of education laughed at but ultimately accepted.
Teachers treated like pariahs without a whimper of opposition.
Religion perverted into politics. The first amendment works both ways.
Unions trashed at every turn, demonized beyond recognition.
Organizations likeAcorn vilified and abandoned to the wolves.
Knee jerk reactions to a 24h news cycle, then defended.
The Tea Party created and abused by its corporate sponsors, hijackedoften by the extreme right, not what most of its members would like to believe it represents for sure. Many good people being lead down a third rail, and both the Democratic Party and Republican Party want to use it for their own ends.
Its pathetic and just what the powers behind the throne are rubbing their hands in glee about.
Meanwhile the world burns, and the Gulf of Mexico [along with the Niger delta] becomes a strategic oil reserve.
Government has indeed shrunk, its become small minded, we have a three party system the only problem being that the third party is not elected.
Its Pop Politics
It stinks
I've just about had enough of it.
Divide and Conquer
Done.
Where to next?
Change from within.
More and better democrats, better being the operative word, just like Alan Grayson for example.
Actually more socialists like Bernie Sanders, but shh, its a secret.
