Observing the second anniversary of my July 20, 2008 diary post.
Update- Almost no comments, same as 2 years ago. Suppressed facts too embarrassing...
In the weeks leading up to the 2003 California Gubernatorial Recall Vote,
republican challenger Schwarzenegger, and even Rove, were subjected to news reporting and accusations from political partisans..:

Siege Heil: The Bush-Rove-Schwarzenegger Nazi Nexus and the Destabilization of California
..Rove is a prime behind-the-scenes mover in the Schwarzenegger campaign. On May 1, 1939, a year after the Nazis took control of Schwarzenegger's native Austria, his father Gustav, voluntarily joined Hilter's infamous Strumabteilung (SA), "brown shirt" stormtroopers. This was just six months after the brown shirts played a key role in the bloody Kristallnacht attacks on Germany's Jewish community..
Gray Davis had already been the winning opposition in two campaigns. Rove had to know everything about Davis's background..
..., and it is inconceivable that no journalist had ever looked thoroughly into Davis's background, either.
Today, we have more proof there is a vested interest of both major political parties and the news media to sit on this strange story. The press would have some explaining to do. Recently, the political editor at the Sac Bee and the editors at Sac Bee parent, McClatchyDC.com were provided with this information, via the links displayed below, if only to confirm that they will not utter any reference to the controversy.:

McClatchy years ago removed the slogan on its website, "Truth to Power". McClatchy and Sac Bee editors have no fear that a rival news gathering business will "scoop" them on this curious failure of all news outlets to present "fair and balanced" reporting on the backgrounds of both Davis and Schwarzenneger in fall, 2003. Embarrassment and explanations would follow any reporting on this failure of journalism.
Faced with an opportunity to counter the accusations against Schwarzenneger in fall 2003, Karl Rove had to keep up appearances. I am sure he wanted to expose Gray Davis's secret, especially in the face of attacks in the press against Schwarznegger's family, and even against Rove, himself, for the same long past affiliations. Here is Rove recently, varnishing the truth he had to keep hidden when he could have come to Schwarzenegger's defense in 2003.:

Author Samuel F. Pryor III vividly portrays the father who was a master political strategist, a prime mover in the creation of the airline industry and a leading conservationist...
President George H.W. Bush: I have read every word of Make It Happen and got an enormous kick out of it.
Karl C. Rove: If anything, Make it Happen underplays Sam Pryor's role in the 1940 Republican Convention and nomination of Wendell Willkie. Pryor was the pivot on what so much turned in those quick and important months.
The things I draw from this experience is that the corporate press is incurious to the point of being dead, the profession of journalism amounts to a commitment to maintain and to protect the status quo and the advertisers, first and foremost.
The is only one, huge, right wing American political party. What are the odds of two men of such similar ultra-extreme-right, family political backgrounds, in contemporary America's most populous state, being offered to voters as the two most prominent choices to be their governor?
As for Karl Rove, he still is invested in maintaining the myth that Gray Davis' grandfather was the emissary of some sort of a Peace plan offered to FDR by the Third Reich, and not what he really was, Goring's bagman offering financing through Pryor to Willkie, who both were aware of whose money they were accepting, but not concerned about what that said about both of them, and about the RNC, as long as it helped them to beat FDR in November, 1940.
