As a fellow progressive, I welcome you to this community, where like-minded people come together in a safe place to create a movement focused on real change. We're glad to have you!
But really, we're doing hard work here. Why on Earth did you waste my time with that piece of crap diary you posted today?
I clicked on that link. Do you understand me? I clicked on it! Precious moments of my day were spent moving the mouse pointer all the way to the top of the diary list to click on your entry. And what did I get in return? A hyperlink to some video and a few paltry lines of half-analysis that provided no particular insight or intellectual context. Not even a clever witticism or two. In short, not a shred of added value.
What, you just thought the story was important on its own merits? Thought your community of fellow progressives might want to know about it? Or that the few thoughts you could summon on the matter might simply be fun to share with like-minded people, perhaps providing a momentary reprieve from the crushing isolation of modern life?
Well, if you can't add something of value, you should stop clogging up the diary boards. May I suggest your time would be better spent consuming the many high-value diaries posted by senior members of the community? These are people who know the right way to build an inclusive progressive movement for all of us, and if you'd shut up for a second they'd be happy to tell you all about it.
So really, next time you come to this community and think about exercising your voice, make sure what you have to say is worthy of us. Everything you post here needs to be smart or funny or insightful. And for god's sake, make sure it's not too short! Otherwise, you might be taking away precious time from a better-equipped progressive commentator.
So welcome to the Daily Kos community! And please, feel free to keep your mouth shut.
