Volunteers around the country gave the President a special birthday gift, one he would appreciate:
More volunteers for the VOTE 2010 effort!
We're continuing to bring in new people who can help out in this election cycle and into the future.
A big part of keeping a movement going is keeping it growing.
In New York City we held half a dozen "Birthday Parties" for the President's 49th birthday, just a few of the many held around the state and the more than 600 held across the country.
The parties were, first and foremost, phonebanks to call potential volunteers, but we also had a lot of fun.
Below are some photos from some of our NYC events.

We made calls...
Lots and lots of calls...
In fact, thousands of calls in NYC alone, and thousands more in other parts of the state.
And we got hundreds of volunteers to sign up for upcoming events.
Fortunately, we had plenty of events to invite them to.
Then we celebrated!
With cake...
...wine and conversation.
We even had a cake competition (judges included me, OFA-NY State Director Melissa DeRosa and OFA-NY Deputy Field Director Geoff Berman)
The winning entry: My good friend and fellow 0rganizer Anne's magnificent "Hawaiian Cake."
And there were prizes not only for the tastiest cake, but also for volunteers who made the most calls.

Last night was wonderful. Volunteers had the chance to combine the important work they're doing with a lot of fun and commaradarie.
We gave POTUS a gift of our time and effort, but the gift is really for all of us. OFA volunteers and others out there making calls, knocking on doors, registering voters, entering data and all doing what needs to be done are working for the future.
If you'd like to get involved, find a campaign office near you or check mybarackobama.com for a local OFA event.
