If I had a nickle for every time I said something stupid in a place where I shouldn't have said anything, I could probably afford a Big Mac. Not that I'd be rich, mind you, but I don't often put myself in situations where I shouldn't have been talking there in the first place. My point being, it's easy to say something that didn't come out right, or probably shouldn't have been said:
Doctor Who (Vampires in Venice): Tell you what though...she's a great kisser. Funny how you can say something in your head and it sounds fine.
Yes, Gibbs said something that he shouldn't have said standing at the podium. But, guess what, everybody spent time griping about his statement, totally missing the big news:
The house passed the funding bill! More aid to the states, and a chance for Democrats to pin the Republicans on paying for teachers, cops, and firefighters. Look at what Mike Pence said when he was asked about teachers losing jobs:
PENCE: Well, look I’m married to a school teacher. My wife spent more than a decade in a public school classroom. So I love teachers! Teachers, firefighters, policemen are all Americans and they all know that the economic policies of bailouts and handouts have failed to create jobs.
He doesn't care about teachers, firefighters, the police, your children, your home, or even your life. He only cares that he gets to keep enough money that he's allowed to breathe the air of the super rich.
You know what every person in America should know? What every diary on the front page should be, what every letter to the editor written by everyone on this site should say? What every person on this site and every other Progressive/Liberal site should be talking to every other American about, rather than YELLING AT EACH OTHER THROUGH THE INTERNET? This:
For over 200 years a small group of people have been doing everything in their power to turn this country into their own personal kingdom. First they used slaves to perform cheap labor so that they wouldn't have to pay people their true worth. Then after the Civil War they created rules that kept a part of society so low they were still effectively slaves. Then, after that was stopped they moved jobs off shore and brought cheap labor into the country. These people don't care about America. They only care about themselves. Race, abortion, and immigration have only been red herrings to keep America from seeing what they are truly doing: Destroying the country for their own benefit. This has to end.
It's OK to occasionally slap our heads and say "Why did he say that?" It's not OK for it to interfere with out attempt at making things right.
