President Obama would like the November elections to be about choice. I have a choice for the president to give the American people. The choice between a party made up of people who will work for you, or a party that has essentially been stealing from the tax payers for the last 10 years. These are the same Republican hypocrites who have accused working people who busted their asses for years, of being 'lazy' of 'milking the system'. I think it's time someone pointed out to the American people who it is that has really been lazy and milking the system.
If I was The Democratic leadership I would be putting an ad together. First I would find as many clips of Republicans calling people lazy, accusing them of gaming the system, and other similar nonsense. I would show the best (or worst depending on your opinion) and then have a narrator come on and say something like:
You worked hard for 10, 20, 30, 40 years. You played by the rules and payed into the system. Now Republican politicians are calling you "lazy". They say you are "gaming the system". They have even called it "fumemployment". Yet these are the same Republicans who have been accepting tax payers money while refusing to do any work for the last 10 years. For 8 years they ignored their Constitutional duties to perform oversight, and instead just rubber stamped the Bush/Cheney agenda, including the bail out of the banks which are largely responsible for the economic mess we're in. For the last 2 years they have refused to legislate in good faith with their Democratic colleagues or The White House. That's 10 years of doing nothing. That's $1.5 million of your dollars per representative. Why should you continue to support these welfare Kings and Queens while you struggle to pay rent and provide the necessities your family needs?
When you go to the voting booth this November, you have a choice. A choice between Democrats who will go to Washington and work for you, or Republicans (cut to picture of Boehner) who will go to Washington to play golf and get tan, all on your dime. It doesn't sound like much of a choice. Vote Democratic!
I think the Democrats need to find a way to tap into the anger that's out there, rather than try to soothe it. I think this would be a very effective attack against the Republicans. Make them defend 10 years of rubber stamping, obstructionism, and no significant legislation. Remind people of why they cast these loafers out.
