I joined dKos a few years ago mostly because I wanted to be part of an active group wanting to make a difference. Actually, I was all over the net joining conversations hoping in some small way, I could contribute to making a difference for my children and grandchildren.
Of course the diary contents here, were and remain amazing in many ways.
However, here and elsewhere I found the comment threads, where the diarist/journalist would defend and more deeply inform the commentators, most enlightening. The insight into the minds and hearts of others enthralls me.
Lately however, it seems most diarists post diaries and don't even seem to bother to see what people have to say. If the numbers remain, for instance 172/172
Does that mean the diarist isn't opening up their diaries to see what people have to say?
Personally, I miss the diarist/commentator interactions.
No biggie, but have others noticed this, too? Has this changed from the past?
Not a diary, so I thought I would pop in a few more questions for volume.
For instance:
Iraq is still a bit of a mess. Power shortages, public services lacking, and a seemingly impotent government. Where's all that oil money that can be used to get the power running 24/7 for the Iraqis?
And, if Iraq can't be running efficiently, what possible chance does Afghanistan have? If our goal is a stable government and sufficient infrastructure is the measure of success, its apparent we will be in both Iraq and Afghanistan for a very long time. Heck, we can't even stop the huge drug trade which is ruining lives elsewhere.
Where are the partnerships between carbon extractors and governments to transit to green energy with the huge, record profits they are making while destroying our planet?
How can the people have a snow balls chance on a DC sidewalk this summer of finding, promoting, and getting what they feel are true representatives of their desires elected when corporations have $1 million for every $1 the people can raise and spend?
What are those new bonds the IMF is printing? Can we read into China's purchase of $50 billion's worth using a currency from another country?
What purpose does the Army have for writing and publishing the instructions for operating Military Civilian Labor Camps at the army website?
What law changed that allowed banks to pay nearly no interest on our savings?
My dad taught me "Ask the question why, and you invite a lie."
So, I don't bother with 'why' questions.
