Republican candidate pledges no tax hikes, subhead Kasich would likely have to cover $8 B shortfall with cuts
Source: Columbus Dispatch June 5, 2010
This little bit of Republican hypocrisy really is saying to Ohio residents and voters that "I, John Kasich, will hereby make no decisions if you elect me to be Governor of Ohio. I will completely disavow my oath of office to execute the office of Governor of Ohio, and will not take actions which may be necessary to preserve and defend the Constitution of the State of Ohio, and to preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States of America."
"Furthermore, when I spent 18 years in Congress, taking a salary from each American taxpayer, I also pledged not to honor my Oath of Office."
Who says that the pledge violates their Oath of Office? None other than former Ohio Governor, former Mayor of Cleveland, and currently sitting US Senator from Ohio, George V. Voinovich:
Sen. George V. Voinovich, R-Ohio, has refused to sign the tax pledge, saying it conflicts with federal lawmakers' responsibility to deal with the country's $13 trillion debt. Some 31 of Voinovich's 41 Senate GOP colleagues have signed the pledge opposing any new tax increases.
"What they have to understand is that that pledge is inconsistent with the oath of office that they took when they became members of the United States Senate," Voinovich told The Hill newspaper, predicting that citizens will demand that lawmakers "act responsibly" to deal with budget deficits.
Who else has taken the pledge or pledges?
Members of the 111th Congress:

Perhaps you will see someone seeking your vote telling he/she lacks the courage, backbone or thinking skill necessary to make a decsionsion consistent with their oath of office. Remember, they are attempting to become elected to represent you, your neighbors and your family members. Do you want someone representing you who refuses to think for themselves?
And finally, here is a list of seekers of state office around the country who have delegated their responsibility to make decsions on behalf of their constituients. They are evading their responsibility to uphold their oath of office and to MAKE DECISIONS which is what our elected REPRESENTATIVES are supposed to do:
State office seekers who have taken The Pledge
The organization in question, Americans for Tax Reform, the organization which created these "no decisions required pledges" for our elected office holders is run by none other than Mr. Grover Norquist, the tax hater who wants to drown our government in a bathtub. That little fact never quite gets into your local paper when a candidate for office takes The Pledge.
Just thought maybe you wanted to know this.
