Funny, this is the same MSM that was so excited not too long ago because America saw that President Obama was not your average typical retail politician, yet now that he delivers on some of his major promises and keeping true to his core beliefs that is more important to do what is right even if it's unpopular the punditry turns against him.
Well, the title of Mr. Simons article @ Politico is "Obama, the one-term president", but I am not into promoting the sensationalist agenda of the MSM to make money from BP so I will just stick to the truth.
The truth is many in the media thought, and wrongly so, that President Obama would shy away from controversy, that he would not weigh in on issues of principle where there was clearly a right side and a wrong side.
Like the issue of the mosque, which like Michael Bloomberg said would be a shame for America if its not carried out, President Obama stood up and defended the US Constitution and all it represents.
According to Simon, politicians should govern by poll, forget about the right and wrong, never choose a side and keep the opposition from trying to define you, all very valid points if you are just a "typical" politician and care about winning elections, which is why people go to Washington, to stay and warm that seat forever.
Yes, President Obama is not becoming more popular for his stance on the mosque, defending the US Constitution is though this days when the other side even demagogues birthright citizenship.
But it couldn't be as though as the people who had to stand up and defend the formation of America via the US Constitution, our founding fathers and those that came after them and had to Amend the US Constitution to fix it's wrongs, like slavery and women's rights amongst others.
That was almost mission impossible... yet they succeeded and we are a BETTER country because they did NOT look at polls in order to DO/SAY WHAT WAS RIGHT.
So, it's true President Obama has had a rough year, America still is in a going through a rough patch when it comes to the economy, unemployment is high, even with all his accomplishments he is not getting a pass and it's also because of all the lies the media has tried to perpetrate about him and some of it self inflicted no doubt, but the American people value deep within their core honesty, hard work and candor.
That is why I know President Obama will be fine, he will not only win reelection in 2012, the GOP for all their fear mongering are not that far ahead and all this talk about them taking over one or both houses of Congress seem a bit misplaced.
I could be wrong and I usually am, but I feel when America voted for President Obama it was because he said he was a different kind of politician, one that would do what is right and tell us the truth even when it didn't poll well or was controversial.
If doing what he says gets him in trouble then you cant blame President Obama, you have to blame HOPE and CHANGE cause that's what he said he would bring and is bringing (again not on every issue but he has taken steps to make sure most of what he promised on the campaign trail becomes a reality, if not now, like right away in his second term) and that is what you said you wanted when you voted for him.
