Yes, it is true. Mr. Mason has a problem with Dems supporting the Constitution. And it gets better:
"And they are incensed that there is any opposition to it."
Worse, he can't understand why they can't understand that some people, presumably Republicans, oppose supporting the Constitution.
And then he concludes with this:
"I understand religious freedom but I don't have to like it."
It strikes me as a rare and dangerous set of affairs when your opposition delivers an angry screed against you and all you can do is applaud.
Why, yes, Mr. Mason, we Democrats are bending over backward to support religious tolerance. We are stunned that any American would even think about opposing it. And we not only understand religious freedom, but we like it: in fact, we go so far as to assert that a large part of what makes America the greatest nation on Earth is true religious freedom.
Not just "technical" or "official" religious freedom, as in something on the law books for lawyers, but actual, honest, true religious freedom, as in your neighbors of different faiths will actually pitch in and help you lay bricks to build a temple to your faith just because they're good neighbors.
On the other hands, mad props to Mr. Mason for sheer honesty. We can only wish that more people would say what they actually believe.
In November, when you go to the voting booth, please try to remember that Mr. Mason's attitude is what we are fighting against.
