Washington Senate primary results are in. Washington is a top two primary state; the top two vote getters go on to the election. At 8:57 PDT, 52% of precincts had reported Patty Murray, incumbent Democratic Senator has received 48% of the vote; her Republican challenger, Dino Rossi 34%. Sarah Palin endorsed Clint Didier has 11% of the vote (bye Clint). Rossi and Didier's combined take does not meet Murray's vote so far. This is good news in at least two ways.
- The Tea Party, despite its many vocal appearances in Washington, does not mount a credible threat, and serves to split the party. Palin be gone!
- Murray should stand a pretty good chance in the general, and help keep the GOP away from exerting more influence in the next Senate. We don't need more plutocrats in the Legislature. Murray's recent leadership on the Edu-Jobs bill is much appreciated by the voters of Washington. Rossi made his stake in commercial real estate, and Washington voters are wary of him. Many conservatives think he's a sell out, a neo con, so they won't support him as stridently as they did Clint Didier.
You may remember Clint Didier as the anti-federal-government farmer who raked in $273,000 in federal farm subsidies from land irrigated by that commie Roosevelt's Grand Coulee Dam project! Hah!
Good news from Washington!
UPDATE: US Congressional results for Washington are here. Looking good for incumbent Dems.
