Ok I admit it I haven't been following this issue much. It seems to me that this is just a matter for the people of NYC or maybe New York state.
I thought Obama commenting on this story was not a smart move. It's a local story and the president doesn't need to comment on every local story.
Today AP is reporting that the Gov of IL felt the need to comment also. While his opponent Brady did the right thing and hasn't said yes or know.
Quinn faces GOP candidate Bill Brady in the November election. Brady on Tuesday wouldn’t give an opinion on whether he supports or opposes the mosque site. Brady did say he hopes "sensitive minds will deal with this in a sensible way.’’
What is going on with this topic anyway.....now I read that the Gov Dean has also commented and come out against Ground Zero Mosque.
What's so wrong with just saying that I'm from IL and not NY it's up to them.
Now I know with 24 hour news networks it's hard to not to want to be on TV but neither of these cases were with a national network.
SPRINGFIELD — Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn says he’s against building a mosque near the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York City.
Quinn on Wednesday compared building the Muslim center to disrupting the peace at Auschwitz or Pearl Harbor, the sites of other tragedies. Quinn says there should be "a zone of solemnity’’ around ground zero.
He did not address how this squares with existing plans to rebuild offices on the site and conduct commercial activity there.
I would like them to say something like....."Sorry but millions of Americans are out of work I and All Democrats are busy working on getting Americans back to work". Its about jobs, jobs and more jobs!
This is a issue I would think that Democrats would all agree is up to NYC....but for some reson they just cant stop talking.
