Poll closing times:
Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Australia Capital Territory-4am EST, 9am BST, 6pm AEST
South Australia, Northern Territory-4.30 EST, 9.30 BST, 6.30 AEST
Western Australia-6 EST, 11 BST, 8 AEST
Final polls and early exit poll whispers suggest Labour are ahead about 51-49 or 52-48, but exit polls in Australia are notoriously unreliable, unlike in Britain where the last two have been accurate to within a couple of seats.
122 of the 150 seats close their polls at 6am Australian eastern times and results should start to trickly through after about half an hour. They count the votes pretty fast so we should know roughly where things are heading by about 90 minutes after the polls close.
Updates to come shortly.
