Sad to report, but the Obama Administration's lack of any clear economic policy will result in huge losses for Democrats in the 2010 midterms. The power of the economy is such that it overshadows everything else. Since no one can tell me what Obama has for an economic policy this is not going to change.
To begin, I voted for and actively supported Obama. At this point in time -- seeing no real structural change -- I am uninterested in supporting Obama or other Democrats and I beginning to look at third parties (the radical republicans went Tea Party and maybe the true left democrats will have to go Green Party or a new creation).
I am now wondering what all those debates between Obama and Hillary Clinton meant when they talked about ending NAFTA. Remember when they had long segments and arguments about NAFTA? I do and I also see that none of it has even entered the dialogue.
The stimulus was a necessity -- its passage was not an economic policy.
Other than the stimulus I do not see what Obama has done for the economy (extending unemployment benefits is also NOT a policy it is a necessity)! Raising takes on the rich is something I support, but it is not an economic policy that will cure unemployment.
Obama needs an economic policy. I suggest one that demands that if it is sold in America it is made in America or imported with a huge tariff. By this I mean an end to NAFTA and the other trade policies that are leading to a border-less world.
Any way, with no clear economic policy -- which has also meant no real improvement (avoiding disaster is not an improvement to most people)-- HUGE losses are looming in November.
But have no fear ... things will not change under the Republicans either.
