Almost anyone who purchased a lawnmower between 1/1/94 and 4/12 of this year can file a claim to get up to $35 for a walk behind mower and $75 for a riding mower.
Evidently, manufacturers have systematically overstated the horsepower of their engines for some time now. A number of separate suits were ultimately combined into one large class action case. The proposed settlement was approved a few weeks ago.
To claim a cash payment though, you have to file by tomorrow. The best way is to do it online at www.lawnmowerclass.com
You will need your mower's make and model number (probably stamped or labeled somewhere on the frame) and the engines make and model number (stamped or labeled on the engine itself).
Engines included are those made by Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Kohler, Kawasaki and Tecumseh. That's just about everybody!
If you miss the deadline for cash claims, you can still file to receive a year of warranty protection.
