This takes the cake in shady marketing. Beck's handlers have designed a new website for him, ostensibly along the lines of HuffPost or Daily Beast, except for one catch. All the stories are about Glenn Beck. And all the ads are for Goldline. When will these sad tea party chumps realize they've been taken for a ride?

Exclusive: Glenn Beck Launches “News And Opinion” Website, The Blaze, Tonight
by Steve Krakauer | 8:20 pm, August 30th, 2010

Having conquered TV, radio, book publishing and now live events, Glenn Beck is looking to expand his media empire into a new arena – the web (obviously is thriving too).

Mediaite has the exclusive details about a news and opinion website Beck is launching tonight. Here’s what to expect.

Beck’s new site is called, and will be edited by Scott Baker, formerly of Breitbart TV and host of “The B-Cast”. In an exclusive statement, he tells Mediaite:

Holy cow this is getting tedious. Samples from this "News & Opinion" site below.

Oh yes, here's Baker's "exclusive statement." Have a seat, it's totally mindblowing:

Our hope is that everyone who comes to The Blaze finds original reporting, insightful opinions and engaging videos about the stories that matter most. We are excited to launch and I look forward to keeping Scott and his team busy by sending countless ideas at 3am every morning.

Well, let me just give you some of the original headlines and blurbs. I did not notice any insightful opinions or  engaging videos. Is there any point in reading beyond these headlines?

A Message From Glenn

There comes a time when you have to stop complaining and do something. And so we decided to hire some actual journalists to launch a new website.

Here's what the "actual journalists" are reporting:

HuffPo Pulls Glenn Beck ‘Sex Tape’ Article
Author offered $100,000 for anything that "succeeds in removing Glenn Beck from the public eye forever."

Black Robe Regiment: The Clergy of 8/28 FAITH
Read Glenn Beck's interview with David Barton, Founder and President of WallBuilders, on the history of the Black Robe Regiment.

NY Times Columnist on Beck: ‘I Underestimated the Man’ FAITH
"Entering this weekend, I was convinced that Glenn Beck’s star was about to go into eclipse."

Glenn Beck's rally

There are two ads for Goldline, and one for Dick Armey's book.

There is a blog. They did not spring for a copy editor, apparently:

Beck and Sharpton Step Into The ‘No-Spin Zone’ MEREDITH JESSUP

There are two side to every argument, and tonight, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly welcomed them both onto his 8pm broadcast.

Record number of Americans rely on government to get by MEREDITH JESSUP

As USA Today reports, the proportion of Americans who find themselves relying on government assistance to get by these days has grown to historic levels.  More than 50 million Americans (an astounding one out of every six Americans) are now enrolled in government anti-poverty programs–that up at least 17% since the economic recession began in December 2007.

President Obama’s stimulus package also welcomed more people onto government assistance at the beginning last year.  With Congress’ help, unemployment benefits have been extended on eight different occasions–from 26 weeks to the current 99-week entitlement.

Oh Meredith. Could you not afford to finish high school?

Here is the entire staff of professional writers, editors journalists, and video producers:

Managing Editor

Associate Editor/Video Producer

Assistant Editor

Assistant Editor

You can take out an ad. That is, you can if you are Goldline, or Dick Armey:

The Blaze is a news, information and opinion site brought to you by Glenn Beck and a dedicated team of writers, journalists & video producers.

Our goal is to post, report and analyze stories of interest on a wide range of topics from politics and culture to faith and family.

Frankly, they don't need your stinking ad dollars.

The Blaze is the next Drudge, or HuffPost, or Gawker, or Daily Beast, or Breitbart, with an angle. All Glenn Beck News All the Time. If you think that's News & Opinion, I have some gold coins for sale. Also, a bridge. I can see it from my window.

At what point do the Gullibles admit they've been had? When they're down to their last Gold Quatloos?

UPDATE Now when I refresh the page, the ads are linking to FreedomWorks. God, it's just pathetic. Is this the best oppostion we can afford? What about some honest people with some real ideas?

Update Please remember this, friends, if you had any doubt. From the vanity site of the great man himself:

Kurtz Defends Beck: He’s Not Like Al-Qaeda

I guess they were really running out of nice things to say about the guy.

You must add at least one tag to this diary before publishing it.

Add keywords that describe this diary. Separate multiple keywords with commas.
Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?
