Taday has pissed me off no end. This same unrelenting and continued denigration of whatever President Obama says or does is irking me beyond all bounds. This morning on Morning Joe they were discussing President Obama's address to the nation regarding the removal of combat troops from Iraq. It received the same scathing comments as his reports always do. Artie Fleischer, Bush's former press secretary, I believe, complained that he thought the President did not give George Bush enough credit for ending the war.

This is from the same guy that has been saying that President Obama should OWN the economy. He should NOT be calling Bush's name and trying to hold him responsible for the economy.

Now, when something good is taking place, Fleischer and the Republicans think President Obama SHOULD GIVE BUSH THE CREDIT.

I just cant believe the double talking and hypocrisy that takes place on these talk shows, all with straight face.

If Bush should NOT be held accountable for the collapse of the economy he SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN ANY CREDIT FOR THE REMOVAL OF COMBAT TROOPS FROM IRAQ.

These damn talking heads cant have it both ways. They cant be allowed to play these damn games with the public. Either Bush gets held accountable for EVERYTHING that occurred on his watch or he gets held accountable for NOTHING.

They have been using this double standard of judgement since Obama has been in office. They went on today to compare his remodel of the Oval Office to Bush's remodeling. Of course, I am not surprised that they thought Bush's was better.

Apparently everything Bush did was twice as good as anything Obama could even think of. This same prejudiced and racist mentality has been holding sway over the Media since Republicans decided to pull out all the stops to get back in power. Every media person almost to a man can hardly wait to see who can pucker up and kiss more Repub booty.

The Corporate owned Media has been after this President like a group of baying hounds and I am damn good and tired of those lying dogs. They need to go back to their kennels. They are providing no good sevice to citizens of this nation.

This group along with the so call progressive Lefters have been whining and complaining since the beginning. I wonder why they didnt just tell Obama HE HAD 30 DAYS TO GET THINGS STRAIGHTENED OUT WHEN HE WAS ELECTED.

I dont think he expected to have to straighten out 8 years on a constrained timetable or else I dont think he would have run for the job.
I wish that he would resign and hand it over to Biden and see if the Media
would proceed in the same way to denigrate him. I doubt if they would talk about his vacations, his wife's vactions or how often he played golf.

Seems to me this minute invasion of the President's life and activities are just particularly designed for HIM. No other President would be subjected to it and the Media would become suddenly silent on the subject.
They make comment regarding Obama that they never would consider with a white president. The Media is providing the forum for the insulting behavior that the Republicans are exhibiting toward the public and Democrats.

Yesterday, Shaddeg was on Morning Joe and Bob Herbert?, I believe asked him to name one or two things he would suggest to get jobs coming back.
Shaddeg told Herbert to stop INTERRUPTING him. Herbert to his credit told Shaddeg to not talk to him like that and reminded him that he was not on the House Floor. Scarborough said that courtesy would have to hold sway and he told Shaddeg to continue. Of course, Herbert didnt get to respond.

That is always the way on these shows. Republicans can say anything they want and they will be given a hearing.DEMOCRATS GET SHUT DOWN. Shaddeg and his ilk have been calling the public lazy and parasites. They have issued insults left and right and NO COMMENT HAS COME FROM THE MEDIA.
They have said NOTHING about the DISRESPECT that Republicans have been
voicing to people they expect to vote for them. WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

As for all of these dissatified left wingers, you never had the committment to Obama in the first place. YOU ALL JUST HAD YOUR OWN AGENDAS AND WHEN OBAMA DIDNT FULFILL THEM IN HIS ALLOTTED 30 DAYS IT PISSED YOU OFF.  Well find another candidate. You almost destroyed President Clinton by pushing him into a confrontation about DADT in the military and caused the whole of the Democratic party to almost be annihilated. The entire right wingnut part of Republican party came against him and where were you? If minorities hadnt protected him by speaking up for him, he may not have survived his impeachment but I think that the support from TRUE DEMOCRATS and minorities groups KEPT THE DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS SUPPORTING HIM.

Apparently, you want to do the same thing again. You thing you can just FORCE YOUR CHANGES NO MATTER WHAT THE RESISTANCE. You will lose. The corporate owned media ALWAYS sides with the Republicans because they are
the party that will WILLINGLY AND CHEERFUL HAND THEM THE KEYS TO THE TREASURY OVER AND OVER AGAIN. This is because they are like Cunningham, they get their piece of the take either in money and good and SERVICES or they get their campaigns funded for allowing the nation to be robbed.

The President will never be able to please you no matter what he does so he may as well please himself. If he only makes sure they are not able to steal by vetoing every tax cut they try and pass or he has agencies  ENFORCE strict regulations to the letter so that they cant pillage or destroy the environment, he will have done his job.

I have absolutely no confidence in any Independent voter, they are fair weather friends. They are on whatever side is on top at the time. They have no committment to any ideals except to be on the winning side. Some
of these so called progressive Democrats are little better because they
think that they can ignore what MOST of the people want and go to the EXTREME because they think its the right thing to do. Its the losing thing
to do because in being extreme, all the end up doing is splitting  up Democrats and diluting their power.

I dont know what the end will be, I just know we cant continue on this road as a nation. We are going to drop off of the edge because there is NO SENSE OF REASONABLENESS or cooperation left in the atmosphere that
prevails in the nation.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Another Fox lie today (4+ / 0-)

I heard this blurb at about 7:10 AM CDST: "They are the troops on the front line.  Why won't they let them vote?"

This is again the same crapola - a falsehood, just tossed out there and not even a simple attempt at documentation.  We all remember 2000, when Joe Lieberman that piece of shit said that no service members would be disenfranchised in FL, even though their absentee ballot votes were late and thus not eligible.  People bend over backwards to ensure that service personnel vote, and this casual shit from Fox is really beyond the pale.

I am a restrictionist, and that is a progressive position.

and lies coming from both sides. I rarely watch TV "news" anymore and avoid reading pissy diaries and comments. Had enough of the meta crap.

I thought it would be a tough habit to break but I was wrong. Right now I'm only focused on getting my friend elected to City Council.

Try taking a breather - it's very refreshing.

was made.  The only way that the naysayers would have been  happy with the speech is if they were the speechwriters.

As blackwaterdog has said before the only good news about President Obama is bad news.  That means that no matter what he says or does, the objective is to find a way to focus on some negative aspect of the issue.

The new political sport is "Blame It On Obama". I have gotten used to waiting for the negative angle on every story relating to President Obama.  There is even a negative angle to the remodel of the Oval Office.

John McCain was on CBS this morning very concerned and outraged about then Senator Obama not being for the surge. This is classic "Look at that shiny ofject". Of course, crack interviewer Harry Smith didn't challenge McCain or remind the viewers why the surge was even necessary in the first place.    That would have required that Harry Smith did his homework before the interview.  The interview was just another opportunity for McCain to get the GOP talking points out. Mission accomplished.

You can't end a war that was never started in the first place.  Therefore, clearly Bush deserves all the credit for ending the Iraq war, because if he didn't start bombing innocent iraqis that were never a threat to us, Obama wouldn't be in the position now where he can end the war.

You guys just don't understand the genius behind Republican war strategy.  If they didn't make the mess,  there would be nothing for Obama to clean up.  So clearly, when Obama does clean up, Republicans deserve the credit.

the only meaningful RESISTANCE to ending DADT is coming from Obama and the Democrats who do nothing about it.  You can't pin this one on the Republicans, the politics (even most Republicans don't have a problem with it in polls), or anything else.

    •  wrong (0+ / 0-)

the Democratic party does not vote in lock step against gay rights.

there are some in the party but it is republicans who are completely in lock step against gay rights.

you are twisting the truth to fit your grievances.

if the Democratic leadership had any real desire to end DADT there is nothing the Republicans could do to stop them.  There resistance to ending DADT is token and meaningless.

Looking at opinion polls, it wouldn't even cost any political capital.

The only MEANINGFUL resistance is coming from the Democrats.

        •  sure they can (0+ / 0-)

you mean as president it could be done.

however, it could easily be reversed when the next president takes office.

they want to do it right.  through congress.  which means we have to agree on it or have enough support to override the filibuster.

if you don't understand all of this and keep saying they have the power and they won't do it..  you just make yourself look really stupid for not knowing process, politics and how things are done.

you marginalize yourself and your cause by not knowing these things.  you can't work in a different reality than the one we all work in.  you can't be successful with politics anyways, maybe art.

    •  NO!!!!! You heard those Generals say they wanted (0+ / 0-)

to review BEFORE they change it. NOTHING GETS DONE IN THE MILITARY WITHOUT A HASSLE AND YOU KNOW IT.

It took tens of years before discrimination and segregation of black soldiers could take place.

It has been only 60 year since this occurred. I know that every gay person what their full rights to be respected and not to have to hide who they are but the fact is that Right Wingers will do all they can to stop the military from from abolishing DADT.

THATS JUST THE PLAIN FACTS. Its wrong but it doesnt matter to them.

The President has to take his generals suggestion into consideration but then CONTINUE TO dismantle DADT. He will get it done.

  •  Were you of majority when Clinton was impeached? (1+ / 0-)

If you were, you should remember that all of the polls showed the American public (not just minorities) were opposed.  Common sense and extreme overreaching on the part of teh republicans saved Clinton.

    •  You are correct about the overreaching (0+ / 0-)

but it was the support of the minorities when many told about how President Clinton's stepfather was the only one who would give black people credit when they needed it.

Other store owners would deny them.

This was spoken by one of his attornies, a black woman during his trial. Repubs got so mad at her they tried to get her fired.

The public was totally IMPRESSED by her accounting of how the black people in Arkansas felt about the Clinton family.

There were many other even some republican ie Trent Lott who voted not guilty because he felt that Gingrich and company had gone too far.

The minority held their ground even when the Media was excoriating the President. I firmly believe that their loyalty SWAYED THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN THE PRESIDENT BEHALF.

Black folks were able to separate the human side of the citizen Clinton from his role as President Clinton. I dont think those Lewisky stories phased them at all because they understood that we all do thing that we dont want known or seen but it shouldnt be allowed to diminish who we are.

      •  You'd need to provide some support (0+ / 0-)

for these claims.  I think you are overstating the significance of one statement.  Frankly, I do not recall hearing about this at the time at all and I follow politics pretty closely.  Do you have any polls or statements which support your claim?

        •  The hearings were on television. One of his young (0+ / 0-)

black attornies spoke about her family's experience with President Clinton's stepfather.

It is on the records. I cannot go through nor do I really know where to find all those records.

I think I shall attempt to find them and read them but it will take me a little time.
