I can only assume that Obama's loyal defenders just don't share my values.
It mattered to me when Obama campaigned against drill baby drill, and then turned 180 degrees and launched his own drill baby drill policies.
And it really mattered to me when the Obama White House then went about facilitating the coverup of how severe the oil spill was by repeatedly allowing those under his command to lie, suppress information, deny journalists access to their own country's beaches and wetlands.
It also mattered to me when Obama discarded his "public option" health care plan and then lied about whether it was even a part of his campaign.
It mattered to me when Obama campaigned on bringing people together and then proceeded, through the thugs in his administration, to vilify and divide the very people who got him elected.
And it really mattered to me when time after time he, from war crimes, to war profiteering, to US attorney gate, to illegal spying on American citizens, the president and his attorney general have refused to simply enforce the laws of the United States of America.
And the morale busters continue. Obama's hatchet job commission on social security. His continuous appeasement of Republicans. His neoliberal delusions that the free market is superior to democracy as indicated by his shocking comments dissing the postal service. His allowing the sociopath thug Larry Summers to run his economic policies.
I mean Larry Summers? The guy who wrote this?:
I think the economic logic behind dumping a load of toxic waste in the lowest wage country is impeccable and we should face up to that.
This is the psycho Obama entrusted our economic recovery to? No wonder its a failure.
I could go on and on - FISA, Afghanistan, Bailout, Mark to Market, Geithner, betrayal of the Teacher's Unions, letting corrupt thugs for special interests run the regulatory agencies, did I mention drill baby drill...?
I decided one day to check the posting histories somewhat of those argent Obama supporters who flame and defend the president's critics no matter what. You know who they are. And you know what I found? None of this stuff seems to matter to them very much.
We just have different values. The most outrage these folk seem to experience is over people criticizing the president. I can respect that. They value loyalty and winning for the team above all else. At least that's what their posts reflect.
My values are different. The most important thing to me, above all else, is changing this country for the better by defeating the corporsatists sociopaths who are trying their best to destroy it. I want, above all else, for every man, woman, and child to be able to have a decent life. I want jobs for everyone who needs one even if it means digging holes and filling them up again. In short, I think when you spread the wealth around it's good for everybody.
I want power taken away from corporations and billionaires and given back to the people where our founding fathers wanted it.
And I want my country to stop killing innocent men, women, and children because rich psychopaths covet their resources.
It's really simple. Those are my values and I believe those were, at least in spirit, the values Obama projected during the campaign. In fact, it was actually Obama who said this:
I think when you spread the wealth around it's good for everybody.
He said that to Jeo the non-plumber on video.
So my morale would be a lot higher if I thought the president I worked so hard to elect, who I gave my heart to and I dare say, my hope, shared those values the way he did when he was candidate Obama.
