So, a friend of nearly 30 years posts a picture on the Facebooks what he reports to be a BLS chart comparing the projected jobs and the actual jobs created by the stimulus package. It isn't pretty so he comments further by saying "...the administration should try a plan B like a massive tax cut or maybe shrink the size and scope of government Or maybe they should just wait til January when the adults are back in the House and let them handle it."
...
Oh, Beneldon's Friend of 30 years! Facebook ain't a chain of email adresses I can reply-to-all to but all your friends are gonna learn something today...
But first, the (edited of actual names to protect the puerile) thread:
SofB'sFof30Y: Lol! Good one, B!
Old Classmate: The adults are the ones that got us in this mess.
Beneldon: Agreed, Old Classmate. After all, the tax cuts created so MANY jobs under Bush, right? and the stimulus package contained nearly 300 billion in tax cuts yet STILL the "adults" voted against it. I'd say the adults were the ones who reached across the aisle and let the "adults" have what they wanted as part of the legislation. and I'd say the children were the ones who bitched and cried and moaned their way through the process and still don't want to help the economy for fear of helping Obama.
B'sFof30Y: Here comes another spending bill. $50,000,000,000 tax dollars designed to improve his party's chances in November
BinLofB'sFof30Y: If 5% unemployment equals a weak, struggling economy... what does 9.6% equal?...govt. CANNOT create wealth for the people as a whole... what it can do is redistribute the wealth from one group of people to another...what the soak the rich crowd has to realize is that the amount of money needed to be considered rich is shrinking....there is not enough money available in our economy to sustain the Big O's spending spree...Keynesian economics doesn't work.......screw paul krugman...thats all for now.
B'sFof30Y: Right. That stimulus cash has strings attached too. A spend happy government creates dependancy. It's dangerous to become dependent on government. Ask any North Korean.
Old Classmate: George Bush had a surplus budget. George Bush was President when we were attacked on 9/11. George Bush lied or stupidly got us into a war with a country that did not attack us. It took George Bush 8 years to drive our country in to the worst economic crisis since the great depression. Obama has had 2 to get us out.
I hit the "like" button on Old Classmate's comment and made a mental note to accept his friendship request.
Then I replied with not some hate speech from the far-left hate site DailyKos or some traitorous columnist like Krugman. Nope. I quoted from the Wall Street Journal! And here it is:
While some economists praised the investment-incentive idea, response from some business lobbyists hinted at its uncertain political prospects. Many said a higher priority for their members remained an extension of the Bush income-tax rat...es for higher earners that are set to expire at the end of 2010. Mr. Obama and many congressional Democrats want to let those breaks expire.

ja get that? they don't want tax breaks going to businesses' they want tax breaks going to themselves. and yet,
The tax break would be retroactive to Sept. 8, the day it is announced, so businesses won't delay planned investments while waiting for congressional action.
would suggest Obama wants to get started on this right away!
Sounds pretty business friendly for a Marxist Socialist Kenyan Moooslim...
However, Congress comes back Sept 13th for only a mere few weeks so... who do ya suppose is gonna drag their feet on this one?
(A)ny action on the new proposal may have to wait until a lame-duck session after Election Day, or early next year.
all because their hearts and minds are working for the interests of those who don't want,
to eliminate the current 33% and 35% rates for higher earners*, and return them to pre-Bush levels of 36% and 39.6%.
Keeping in mind that a good number of hard working people earn that kind of money, but just a few of them have income as their only revenue stream.
Rich or poor, it's nice to have a little money but there's a difference between going without bread and Folgers until payday and going without Panera and Starbucks or going without Room Service the remainder of vacation. There's also a difference between cutting down on car travel and cutting down on air travel or cutting down on travel travel.
If I had my federal taxes raised by 4.5 percentage points I could absorb it with my gasoline consumption. I can't imagine why it would be more difficult for them, but I'm sure there will be some fairly balanced and excellent broadcasts on why I should believe it is. Too bad Fox is only the dominant cable newz show and talk radio has only an 86% share of the corporate owned media.
