I quipped here yesterday that OFA had sent me yet another email begging for yet another $40 contribution. I was on the fence about whether to give in or hold on until later, maybe spread it around - what little I have to spread - to individuals like Alan Grayson who I really want in Congress.
I gave in, after watching the video a second time.

So what got me to come around?
First, it was the message. Plouffe was not cheerleading; he is very clear about what we're up against, about how tough this election is going to be, about what is needed, and about how he's going to proceed. He addresses the ground troops first before pleading for contributions.
Second, it was the messenger. I have been barraged with emails from David Plouffe for around 3 years now, but I confess that up until yesterday, I was unable to put a face, let alone a voice, to the man at the other end. I've certainly read a lot from him, and a lot about him, since the 2008 campaign. This rather ordinary-looking man is the brains behind one of the most successful grassroots political campaigns in U.S. history - and he may well be our only hope to prevail against the forces of darkness that seem to be growing stronger with each passing day.
But I have another confession to make: I get nearly all of my news from the Internet. We have a couple of TVs in my house, but when we're not watching kid vids, we're too tired to turn them on. So for 3 years now, I had no idea how David Plouffe pronounced his name. I expected it to be like "Ploof" or "Ploo-fay." Now I know it's pronounced like "Pluff." So OK, David Pluff. Here's my $40. Use it wisely.
