Thank you and have an IVH night.
The subject of food seems to be a popular topic around the Vent-Hole, so tonight I’m going to share some stuff about where I’ve eaten the last month, when I decide to eat out. It’s not a frequent occurrence, because I have to conserve money for now, but I will treat myself every now and then.
The place I’ve eaten at the most so far? Sonic Drive-In. Why? Tater tots, corn dogs, and tater tots. And the location I go to has a place you can sit inside and eat—which isn’t the norm in a lot of those stores.
I tried ordering from Papa John’s—they don’t deliver here after dark—but that was the first week here. But there’s a Little Caesar’s, and a New York pizza shop that sells HUGE slices of pizza, enough that two of them make a meal.
There’s a seafood restaurant right around the corner that’s really good—shrimp, crinkle-cut fries, and the best hushpuppies I’ve eaten since Chesapeake Bay Seafood House closed down. And, of course, I’ve had a breakfast stop at Waffle House.
Yesterday, as I was out to purchase the waffle iron (yes, I got the waffle iron; the Belgian waffle with the flip, and it works fine), I stopped in at Steak ‘n Shake. Mom and I had a chance to stop in at one while in Pittsburgh last year. I picked the right day; the place was relatively empty for the morning, and Monday, they were slammed with customers wanting milkshakes for 5 whole hours. McDonald’s milkshake machines wouldn’t have survived 2 hours of that.
And that’s another thing: I haven’t eaten at a single McDonald’s since my trip down here—the last I ate at was outside Tyson’s Corner, Virginia—and that’s not normal, but I like having a variety of places to go to. I did stop in at Burger King, though, but that’s a normal rate for me. And since I have to go out tomorrow, I think I’m finally going to go to Jack In The Box; there’s one close to here, but also there’s one where I’m going, so depending on how I feel and the bus schedule; I’ll eat there for lunch tomorrow.
But what I haven't seen? Chinese food. Okay, I lied; there's a Panda Express close to where I dropped the moving van off, but I want a classic one; I'm going to want shrimp fried rice at some point, and I need a place to go when I do.
James Lipton and Monica Potter are the scheduled guests tonight.
