Living in a small city in Alabama, it's rare I hear anything about Alaska or Sarah Palin other than from the national news services.
But yesterday I saw a co-worker who I knew had just returned from a visit to Alaska.
So I asked the very innocent question, "How was Alaska?"
This set off a near nuclear explosion within the woman, and I thought I would share a few of her remarks about Palin.
First she commented on how expensive everything was up there - milk was I believe she said $5.49 a gallon... and how a lot of Alaskans felt the "quitter" ex-governor was responsible for the high prices.
From there she then went into how much the people up there hate Palin, and gave two examples that I remember completely.
One was that, while on a tour bus in Juneau, the driver said that anybody who wanted to talk about Palin could go sit on the top of the double decker bus - away from him! He didn't even want to hear her name.
The second thing she said, was she saw a huge sign an Alaskan had painted on the side of his house. It said, "Hey Palin! Tell your wife she SUCKS!"
I asked the woman, "did you see that sign with your own eyes?" and she said, "Yes, I did,"
and then she added,
"They hate her up there!" and repeated that over and over.
Now, if the rest of America can just learn to be as smart as Alaskans finally are now...
We may have a chance...
That she will truly fade away.
The quicker the better.
