Well, that didn't take long.
President Obama on Thursday refused to commit himself to vetoing legislation that would temporarily extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, even as he and his administration have steadfastly argued that such an extension would waste hundreds of billions of dollars.
In an interview with ABC News's George Stephanopoulos, the president was asked on four occasions whether his commitment to letting the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy expire was strong enough to veto even a "short term extension." On each occasion, Obama demurred.

Cue the Obamopologists, cries of eleventh dimensionology chess or checkers or dominos, or pick-up stix, and demands to kill the messenger.
Cue me bone-weary tired and sick unto death of speeches that mean nothing -- but dangerous "compromises" down the road.
"Compromises" that both do damage to the American people and disenhearten the Democratic base and Independents from voting for Democratic politicians who stand for nothing that even vaguely resembles what should be Democratic policy and values.
The irony:
The exchange...was flagged by a Republican congressional aide who noted how little Democrats would likely feel emboldened by the remarks.
So have at it in the comments, for which I'm not going to bother sticking around.
I've heard it all, and I'm still voting Democratic in the midterms, as I have voted for the last fucking 40 years.
Because the Republicans only get crazier as the decades pile on.
But I'm not the problem, I'm not handing over Congress to those fuckers: you can thank your Democratic politicians, and this administration, for that.
