So here we are nine years later.
Nine years, two wars, thousands of more suicide bombings and murders done in the name of a higher power and yet the one group of people you would have expected to have learned the most from this insanity is instead the one group of people more irresponsibly ignorant than anyone on the planet.

And yes, I'm talking about the News Media and its continuing coverage of a goofball minister in Florida (Terry Jones) with fewer than 50 congregants who put out the world that he wanted to burn some Korans.
They took a guy who has God's cell phone number on speed dial and turned him into a monster. And now he's got generals, politicians, religious leaders and even the Secretary of Defense hanging on his every word because they're so afraid of the reaction of the Muslim world to his actions.
And yes, there are a few commentators out there wringing their hands over the mess they've all created, but rather than accepting the hard responsibility for the possible consequence of their actions they do what they do best and hide behind the 5th Amendment, no better than the craziest member of the NRA demanding to own cop killing bullets.
And yes they do have a choice. Nothing in the Constitution requires them to report on this trumped up story. They are not reporting the news, but creating it for no better reason than that it will sell papers and point tv remotes toward their news stations.
Nine years ago a bunch of religious fanatics hijacked planes and used them to kill people and drive home their message of religious intolerance.
Nine years later a religious fanatic in Florida has hijacked the News Media and threatened to crash it into the Muslim world to drive home his own message of religious intolerance -- only this time the cockpit door was no only opened for him, but the news anchors inside welcomed him in.
