President Obama is for tax cuts for everyone. Even millionaires. That's right, no one is left out. That's fair, isn't it? America is for fairness. Democrats are for fairness. This is good. Equal opportunity tax cuts.
Under President Obama's proposal, everyone gets to keep the tax cuts on the first $250,000 of their income. Millionaires, too. They're not discriminated against. These are tax cuts I can believe in.
I think this framing that "everyone keeps the cuts on the first $250,000 of their income" is critical to de-fanging the repubs.
Repubs play the class warfare card, the trickle down card and every other card they can think of to create an impression that Obama is raising everyone's taxes.
In reality, we are lowering everyone's taxes compared to current law, which takes all rates back to 2000 levels.
The first $250,000 of income sounds pretty good. People feel included. People don't misunderstand and think that they are left out or that the rich people are somehow being left out. Millionaires' first $250,000 gets the cuts, too!
(It amazes me how the repubs have been creating a narrative to make people worry about the welfare of millionaires.)
I think the country can understand that we can't afford to and don't need to award tax cuts to income past that first $250,000.
The repubs' line of attack is that everyone should get the cuts. Take the wind out of their sails. Get it into the echo chamber that the first $250,000 of everyone's income gets the break. It's what the proposal does, and it sounds fair.
