You did it! You really, really did it! How awesome are you? How can I possibly thank you, beside having an awesome time and diarying it to the max! DULLES HERE I COME!
I want to help more people. We have the website, ProgressiveSponsor.com, and people are signing up and asking about ride-shares. Others are signing up and offing places for attendees to stay and assistance getting around!
Please, this helped me and it can help others, if people get involved and communicate. I'm adding functionality to the site daily, so please keep checking back.
And please, whether you're going or not, maybe you can play a part in someone else's experience. You never know until you try and you could make some great friends in the process.
I sure have and we're planning a party on the Friday night before the march! Contact Hopeful :)
There are others who can use a hand. And still others offing support and sponsors. I'd like more people to know about it. I'd like for it to be a useful tool to help progressive groups fund raise. After this march I'll try to expand it's range of possibilities.
But first, can we help some other people?
Angie in WA State needs help getting to the march and is trying to organize a West coast run:
Unemployed since June 18, 2009. No job in sight.
More than willing to be feets-on-the-streets, if I can get assistance to get to D.C.
What about riding trains to D.C. for those of us cross country on the West Coast?
contact: angie.in.wa.state AT gmail (dot) com
I've been a PCO (Precinct Committee Officer) before and hope to be one again this fall.
I've worked on local and national campaigns (state reps and county commissioner and a presidential campaign as LD chair in 2004).
I can't think of a better way for progressives and liberals to get our Voice heard by Congress and the White House, than to participate as a Marcher for the Future.
Great stuff, Angie!
dkistner needs a ride-share from Georgia. Any GA Kossacks about?
I'm a 58-year-old short, dumpy feisty woman, have been to four marches in Washington since 2000 (going by myself, despite family members' fears), and know the drill in terms of taking a bus. I live in Cave Spring, GA (30124), but I could get to Atlanta or Rome to hook up with people. I'd be sure to make a good sign showing I'm from Georgia. I have a nice drum that I can rig to hold a good sign, too.
It seems at the other marches I went to, a whole lot of people were blown away to see somebody from Georgia there. I think a lot of people, even educated progressives, must think we're all complete bible-thumping dumb-ass rednecks down here. I'd love to go be visible.
I do not work and so could do either one of the whirlwind bus trips to march, or I could take longer and go with somebody who is driving and doing the hotel thing. I just don't have any money. I'll also have to make arrangements for a chicken babysitter, but that should not be a problem.
While ikorrellim is offering a ride-share from Charleston
Will car pool or Van pool (I have car) with some wanting to attend from South Carolina (Charleston) area...pick up...
And then had a great idea:
Organizing for America would be a GREAT HELP if anyone knows someone in the Obama Administration. I know I get e-mails with people in this area who are organizing for registration walks, meetings, etc.
Can someone try and get the list or get this site rec'd on the Organizing for America list...what a CROWD we could generate...
I'd love to be able to help more people. Many more! If anyone knows anything about this, can you contact me? I've never done anything like this before and I'd hate for it to flounder because of me.
But DontTaseMeBro has to have the most interesting support offer:
Queer vegan guy offering two people a place to sleep over here in DC. I have bikes, beds, and vegan meals. Optional yoga class at 5:30 on 10/2 called Punk Rock Yoga as my guests.
Not my way to start a morning, but I'm sure it'll be heaven to someone's ears!
The point is these people are involved! If you're goin, please chime in! Maybe someone can go with you or you can assist someone once they are there. Likewise, if you life in the Washington area and can put a couple of people on a couch, etc, please make a support offer.
This is all awesome stuff and all of it happening right now. If we can get enough attention, if enough people find out about it, then maybe it can go somewhere and make a difference.
Have a click and a look about, please :¬)
p.s. Have I told you how awesome you are?
Thanks for taking the time to read my Diary :¬)
