I put this in the comments of Mr. Coons' Diary, but he had just signed off and I don't think he had a chance to see it. I think this really backfired in Mass. where Coakley and the Dems constantly called it "Ted Kennedy's seat". The Dems who have no qualms with VP Biden will be voting for Mr. Coons whether he calls it Biden's seat or not, but some independents and any moderate Repubs will surely take offense at the notion that the seat belongs to anyone other than the people of Delaware.
The other suggestion I offered was that he tie O'Donnell to the Republican party and don't let her cast herself as some sort of outsider, independent type. She's been a hardcore Republican activist for 16+ years and her views are in-line with the national GOP (they're just too embarrassed to say them out loud:). Tying her to the national GOP has two advantages: 1) it ties the GOP to one of its wackiest members, and 2) it ties her to a party which is viewed more negatively than either the Tea party or the Democratic Party.
