This is largely a re-post of my original diary announcing this event, for the benefit of those who may have missed the original or not yet made up their minds to join us. Please rec this up so more weekend Kossacks may see it!
Yes, you read that right. The founder of DailyKos, Markos Moulitsas, author of American Taliban, the man who gave us our forum, our megaphone and our playpen, will be paying a visit to NYC. And we're throwing a party for him.
Come below to get your personal invitation to the social event of the season!
Here it is:
Date: Wednesday, September 29
Time: 6:30 pm - ??
Location: McGee's
240 West 55th Street (between 8th and Broadway)
New York, NY 10019
(212) 957-3536
THIS LOCATION IS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE.
Transportation: N,Q,R to 57th St., A,B,C,D,1 to 59th St./Columbus Circle, E to 7th Ave./53rd St., F to 57th St. 8th Avenue buses (uptown), 7th Avenue and Broadway buses (downtown). So you really have no excuse.
Markos will be signing your copies of American Taliban, conveniently for sale at the party if you haven't already got one. I have one, and I recommend it. It couldn't be more accurate, nor more timely, as the religious right, the ones who the Tea Party claimed they weren't (remember that?) reveal themselves to be...the Tea Party!
We'll be in our own party room, with a full bar and menu (there may even be DK's own very favorite dessert), so plan on making an evening of it. This party's going to be worth it.
Because we're expecting that lots of you will want to attend, and our party room has finite capacity, there's no poll attached to this diary. Instead, I'm asking for actual RSVPs. Please email me at my username at gee mail to be included. You will be added to the guest list on a first come, first served basis. Since we will soon be publicizing this event in the wider NYC progressive political community, you'll want to reply as soon as possible.
Those of you who have already RSVP'd via email don't need to respond again; your names are already on the guest list. Those of you who haven't yet responded, here's your opportunity!
*Those of you who aren't yet on the mailing list, but would like to be notified of events like this in the future, please e-mail me as above.
Opportunity knocks: we need a bookseller for this event! You can make some money if you're willing to be the person who sells the books Markos will be signing. If you're interested, please e-mail me as above.
I know I say this all the time, but I'm really looking forward to seeing you - and Markos!
