I believe in this. From the bottom of my heart into the depths of my brain, I know it is the right thing to do. The current state of political discourse cannot continue. We must talk, not shout. We must comfort those who fear. We must educate those who don't know. We must find a way to confront the complex threats we face.
Oh, people. This gives me such hope.
When Barack Obama got elected, I, too, was one filled with the hope he inspired.
Only to have it dashed by the desparation of the party out of power and a fearful group of people whose lack of critical thinking skills make their fear so easy to manipulate.
You see, friends, we must acknowledge that fear and ignorance are stubborn things. They do not respond to logic. They do not respond to facts. They do not respond to pleas.
But laughter? Who does not respond to laughter, people? Who?
There is hope in laughter.
