A few months ago I took a stand and declared that in November I would not be voting for Senator Lincoln in the Arkansas Senate. I took a lot of heat because I was not a team player. I said that I would vote for the Green Party candidate who actually represents what I believe in. Commentors on that particular diary called me a traitor to the Democratic Party.
In my eyes it is is Senator Lincoln who is the traitor to the party and if it means losing the seat to the Republicans to retire her I would vote against her (I mean honestly she is a Republican she just has a D next to here name).
Today, should be the final nail in here coffin. Today she proved that she (as is the other Democrats and all the Republicans) is a bigot.
She voted against the bill that would repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell. It was bad enough when she voted against the public option, claiming that is what Arkansans wanted, despite the fact that polls at the time showed a majority of Arkansans favored it.
Her vote today, however, is simply inexcusable.
Here is a definition of a bigot and I think you will see clearly that she fits it with her vote today:
A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, especially one exhibiting intolerance, irrationality, and animosity toward those of differing beliefs or genetics. The predominant usage in modern American English refers to persons hostile to those of differing race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, various mental disorders, or religion.
There was no reason, what-so-ever, for here to vote against then other than her being a bigot. I am sure within the next couple of hours her, the other cowardly Democrats, and the Republicans will come out with their usual lame lies and excuses for their votes. It is simply cover for them.
They are all bigots. There is no research anywhere that shows that openly gay and lesbians serving in the military are a detriment to the military. So why vote to keep the ban in place? Bigotry, pure and simple.
She is an embarrassment to MY Democratic Party, and I for one, will be happy the night of the election as she loses her seat.
By the way the loss of this seat to the Republicans is not actually a loss. Both candidates for this office are results of the machine in Washington and look to only serve their best interests.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
