My hands are shaking as I type this. I went to the LA County Jail website about 30 minutes ago to register to be notified when my assailant was let out of jail. He got sentanced to 20 days in jail on Monday, so I figured he'd be out early next week. I wanted to make sure I didn't get a nasty surprise on the exact release date. So...I find out that they released him late last night...barely 24 hours after he was sentanced.
I'm trying not to panic...it doesn't do me any good, but my heart is in my throat. I've been making arrangements to either move or see if I could get his family to have him to move. I have an appointment with a security company to put in an alarm system and motion activated lighting. I'm not ready to have him right next door!!!
I went back to work today for the first time since the attack and felt pretty good today. The CFO came to see me and told me to start parking in the building valet service area and that the company would pay for it. He also spoke to a couple of lawyers about the likelihood of a lawsuit to get this guy out of the house next door. All in all, my employer has been FANTASTIC!!
Just got in touch with Guardian Angel...he's going to follow me home and wait while I throw some clothes into a suitcase and then I'm going to spend a few days at a friend's house until I can figure out what to do now that he is out. Who knows...maybe his family is trying to get him into rehab. Just wish the Dad would call GA back so I know what I'm dealing with here.
Sorry for the short diary...but it helped to type this out. Just the act of typing out a quick game plan gets me past the Oh My God!! reaction.
UPDATE: Okay, GA is about to pull up in front of my building. I'll try to update later tonight but might not be able to until tomorrow. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT! Really, I would be a much bigger mess without all of you!
