This is more of a call for help than anything else. Something of a "if you know anyone in the news media who can put some cameras in people's faces and get this issue some exposure, we could really use your help" type of thing.
Fair warning though, there is some reasonably graphic descriptions below the fold of animal cruelty.
This email showed up earlier from a co-worker who does a lot of work with some of the local animal shelters, begging for help in getting media attention on this issue. I'll just let her email speak:
The Schertz Humane Society has had personal experience with the Pleasanton “animal shelter” before and helped remedy the situation a bit this spring with food, supplies, medical care, and at one point removing all of the animals from the Pleasanton shelter and putting them into our foster homes, but then were driven away by the “manager” who told us to get out and never come back…we were just notified again of someone from another rescue group who was down there and the situation is worse than ever (see below).
“Hey. xxx from Atascosa County Humane Society might be calling or emailing you (Schertz Humane). She was at the Pleasanton pound last night and saw some horrible things. Two puppies dying & covered with maggots on their bodies and in their eyes and the ACO refused to euthanize them. Lots of animals without food & water and cats with no litter boxes even though her org has provided them. She gave them a microchip scanner and they refuse to use it. She needs help exposing this place for it's cruelty. She said it mainly comes from one of the ACOs. The guys working there are ok but the bad guy is their boss. “
We’re trying to figure out who in the media to contact since 1x1 intervention by other rescue orgs does not seem to be a long term remedy…can anyone help connect the rescue groups to someone who can put the spotlight on these horrible conditions and get some change happenings? It’s truly unimaginable that this is allowed to continue. Let me know please if you have any ideas. thanks
And so I ask you, denizens of DKos, to help out in whatever manner you see fit or able to do so.
