Here, you have the democratic party. Take it, or leave it.
[editor's note, by FleetAdmiralJ] Armando, as always, maks a good point. The part about leaving the party applies to those who appear to have more contempt for the party than love of the party. Those who call themselves Democrats, yet feel that the party is more dislike them than like them, and that the best way to change things is to throw out everyone who doesn't agree with them out of the party.
It's not meant to be a "if you're not a DLCer, get out" or a post like that. And I look weak kneed and whimpy for apologizing...then, well, I apologize (and i apologize if that made me look weak too)
now...back to my post...
If you dont like what the democratic party stands for...leave it. If you're an independent, go ahead and vote republican. You obviously like dobson more than the crying Durbin anyway.
more fucking stuff below...
If you're on the left. Go ahead...vote for Nader or whoever the hell you want. They have no chance in hell of winning. As one satire diary said the other day, with a small addition by me, one of the rules of being a left-wing democrat is that it's better to lose with the ideologically pure than it is to win with a better, but not pure, candidate.
And of course, people on here make it out like politics is easy. Why of course, voting against this bill, or voting for that bill, or just making a simple speech! "god, why can't these people do this" yeah, they will if the people on DKos are the only people voting in the election.
And sure, Mr. sits at his computer for 8 hours a day knows more about how politics works than those who have been actually doing politics for years, if not decades.
But noooo....instead of attacking Frist, or Bush, or Newt, or whoever the hell on the right says or does some jack shit thing, what do I see on here when I come on here?
Kerry sucks!
Biden sucks!
Lieberman sucks!
Durbin sucks!
Clark sucks!
Hillary sucks!
Schweitzer sucks!
Nelson sucks!
Landrieu sucks!
need I go on?
And you give shit to people like Biden and Edwards for saying that Dean needs to watch his mouth?
If we kicked out every senator which has been a target of certain populations of this blog, we probably would hardly have any democratic senators left. One has to begin to wonder...is that the party's problem, or is that the blog's problem.
And I don't mean Kos himself and the other front pagers. While they may stick it to Biden or Lieberman occasionally, they still keep their eye on the ball.
I'm talking about mr. joe shmo who somehow thinks they know more about politics by sitting at a computer 2 hours a day and working at a desk at work than people who have served years as congressmen, senator, and governors.
If you think someone did something dumb. fine. say it was dumb. if you think they should do something, fine, say they should do something.
But i'm frankly sick and tired of this bullshit. Just on one thread, one person is asking if Durbin is a republican spy or saboteur. Even if they are jesting, this is still way out of line. I've seen the same things said about Kerry, probably Biden as well. One has to wonder what some of the people here are smoking. I mean seriously. Luckily he is getting troll rated at the moment, but as I just said, this isn't an isolated incident.
If you want to change the democratic party from the inside...good. then do something productive to achieve that goal. However, demonizing every other elected democratic official isn't going to get the job done. The only things you're doing are 1) not doing anything productive, and 2) you're pissing off about..oh...80% of the democratic party by attacking people who we actually have at least a shred of faith in still.
Bush hasn't been able to do jack since his re-election. He is a lame duck, but thats not enough. You want them to use the i-word in public. You want them to sit there and yell "you're a nazi" at their faces. Nevermind whether it would actually hurt or help the party. It just makes you feel better.
Now, I love this place, and I'm going to keep reading and posting here as long as I think more good is being done than bad.
and of course, I know that, those who decide that saying Durbin is a spineless whimp or something else of that nature about him or someone else, will continue to do so irregardless of anything I or anyone else says. Frankly, they can go dancing with Ralph Nader in 2008 then. If they're going to spend more time attacking democrats than republican, then good riddence if they do leave.
They are the real so-called "vichy" dems.
Of course the call will be "if the dem party isn't for liberty" or "isn't against torture" or whatever else "then good riddence to the party.
Well, anyone who thinks that they aren't for liberty or aren't against torture is quite, frankly, stupid, and thats probably being kind.
I would actually find it rather insulting...infuriating really, to have my patriotism qustioned by those who would rather sink the democratic party through ideological purity and perfection than actually thinking.
Do you actually think the republican party runs by ideological purity? And don't fucking tell me "oh...the republicans do this or that and it works for them." Well good for them that it works for them. But we're not republicans. What they do in order to win is utterly irrelevent to us.
As I said above. I if you want to change the party, fine. But attacking it's current members isn't doing to get it done. You won't magically get new congressmen and senators in office tomorrow by bitching.
